The lab was excellent and clever and was terrific at broadening views of
people in predominantly one discipline or another.

I see many strong leadership skills and pure management skills offered for
our people - but not really anything like this, that helps someone learn through
experience in a safe environment (simulation) about things outside their
daily purview.

Top-ranked Avnet makes bold moves to boost its business CEO Roy Vallee
is making return on capital
It was touted as the strategy meeting not to miss. Avnet Inc. senior
executives from around the world gathered late last year at the top-ranked
distributor’s global headquarters in Phoenix. They had come to hear
chairman and chief executive Roy Vallee and to participate in a three-day
“war game” that simulated running a mock company for five years.
The workshop, hosted by Deloitte and Touche LLP [delivery team featured
the principals of CCG Group], was aimed at demonstrating to Avnet senior
management what it takes to improve and optimize the return on capital.
They learned the consequences of their actions, such as cutting expenses,
increasing inventory, and decreasing receivables. It was an eye opener,
according to many Avnet executives.
